Research

Research Team Member, Montana State University (MSU) - Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) Medical Research Team [2017]

I served as a clinician team member on MSU-MNUMS’s 3 year study on the use of painted flouride onto the teeth of pediatric patients to prevent dental caries. Due to high participant attrition in the herder population, the study remains incomplete.

Clinician Researcher, SOAR, Roseburg, Oregon [2011-2012]

I served as SOAR’s (Southern Oregon Applied Research) node clinician-researcher for the following NIDA study (NCT 01077024) in conjunction with OHSU and the University of Cincinnati.

Consultant, Ghana Health Service Bolgatanga, Ghana [2009-2010]

I conducted qualitative research on the organizational and environmental causes of high maternal mortality in the Upper East Region of Ghana, and worked with GHS administrators and researchers to identify cost-efficient ways to minimize mortality and morbidity while maximizing resources. I then authored a road-map document interpreting the results for use by the GHS to implement changes suggested by the study to decrease maternal mortality in the region.

MS Thesis, Columbia University School of Nursing 2008-2009

My team designed and conducted interventional research on sexual health education within the New York Public School System. Research aims were to evaluate current standard (lay) teaching methodology and compare it to methodology designed and implemented by nursing experts among high school students.

BA Thesis, University of London - SOAS 2003-2004

I conducted qualitative research examining the efficacy of prevention and education efforts by rural Catholic Church programs and clinics to stem the spread of HIV in Kenya. Community support programs were also addressed, as were the roles of faith and infrastructure on health in developing countries.
